Not to show favorites between seasons, but summer is truly one of the best times to be here. The music festivals alone are reason enough to visit. The Summer Jam is on the slopes of Massanutten Resort, but substitute the snow for stages. Just across the County line, you’ll find the Red Wing Roots Music Festival with 4 stages and more than 40 artists, including our homegrown favorite, The Steel Wheels. And be sure not to miss the concerts at the annual Rockingham County Fair.
More than just music, summer is also prime time to raise a glass. We happily celebrate Virginia Craft Beer Month all throughout August with a local assortment of IPAs, stouts, lagers, reds and more. Or if you prefer wine, there are plenty of varietals to taste at our three local wineries.
Summer is also prime time for all things outdoors including biking, hiking, camping and golfing. You can also make your way to our many lakes or rivers for fishing, including:
· Mossy Creek
· Silver Lake
· Slate Lick Lake
· Spring Creek Trout Farm
· Hemlock Springs Trout Farm
