Town of Mt. Crawford
Although it’s one of the smaller towns in Rockingham County, there are plenty of reasons to visit Mt. Crawford. Filled with Victorian homes and charm, this Town is also home to some of the county’s top culinary treasures – wine and cream. Visit the Town of Mt. Crawford website by clicking here.
With more and more people wanting to know where their food comes from, the Mt. Crawford Creamery is a great opportunity to do just that. Not only can you walk around the farm and pet baby calves, you can also see where they milk the cows and make delectable, all-natural butter. And in the summer every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon, Smiley’s Ice Cream is on hand to make frozen goodness in flavors like fresh peach using the Creamery’s ice cream mix.
More than just great Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the stunning CrossKeys Vineyards is giving people insight into the art of making wine including how the grapes are grown, pressed and processed. Their educational tours take place daily at Noon, 2pm and 4pm. And naturally, there’s always time for a tasting along with a variety of great meals to be had in their Bistro.
