Youth Bowling League

Start learning the skills and rules of a lifelong recreational sport with our RCPR Youth Bowling League. We will be partnering with Valley Lane’s in Harrisonburg to provide a recreational bowling league for Rockingham County Youth. Scores will be kept on the overhead scoreboards at Valley Lanes, but no awards or winners will be declared. The goals are to have fun, learn the basics of the lifelong activity, and compete against yourself for your best score during the four-week program. Bowlers who desire to take their bowling to the next level after completion of our program will have the opportunity to explore the highly competitive league offered by Valley Lanes. Every participant that signs up will be able to bowl two games on four successive Saturdays. Time frame will be assigned once registration has ended (either 9-10:30am or 10:30am-12pm). Registration fees include game fees and shoe fees for every Saturday.

Spring Break Lego Masters

Join us at the Rockingham County Administrative Center for this fun Lego program. During this one-hour program participants will be given several challenges to complete using a small, preselected tub of bricks. We will also mix in some Lego trivia and other fun activities.

NFL Flag Football

Our NFL Flag Football league is designed to introduce boys and girls to the fundamental elements of football in a fun, instructional and safe environment. From the moment your child steps on the field, our program is designed to assist each player with the advancement of their individual skill level and football knowledge while enhancing their level of play in a fun and structured environment. Each participant will receive an NFL branded jersey and a flag belt. Season will begin April 8 with the first games being played on April 20 and there will be no games on May 25.

Intro to Golf

RCPR is partnering with First Tee to offer a 6-session clinic to introduce kids to the basics of Golf. No equipment or previous experience is necessary. First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, First Tee creates active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do. Registration may close early if the maximum number of spaces available is reached. All sessions will be held at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads.

Youth Lacrosse Clinic

Come join the fastest sport on two feet with coaches from Muddogs Lacrosse. This clinic will be organized, fast-paced, and FUN! Areas of focus will include passing, catching, ground balls, dodging and shooting, and simple game play. No experience or equipment needed, only a desire to listen, work hard, and have fun. This will be non-contact and lacrosse sticks will be provided for use during the clinic. Please have your athlete wear a mouthguard and cleats. Girl’s Clinic will be held on Tuesdays, the Boy’s Clinic will be held on Thursdays. All session will be held at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads.

Start Smart Soccer

Start Smart was developed by top motor skill development specialists in the field of youth sports. Parent-child groups perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun at the same time. Start Smart participants will develop proper motor skills without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt that will allow them to enjoy and succeed in their youth sports future! (Your child MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times during these classes.)

Snapology: Mining & Building

Join us as we bring the game of Minecraft® out of the computer and into the real-world using LEGO® bricks. In this program, you will go on adventures using your imagination and even design your own worlds, full of mobs, animals, buildings, and your very own LEGO® Minecraft® character. This program is from our creative building variety, and students will not be provided with detailed building instructions. They will review a theme or principle of Minecraft® and then engage in LEGO® building activities & challenges around those themes. Come join us as we unlock the boundless possibilities of Minecraft® in the tangible realm of LEGO® bricks! Class will be located at Manufactory Collective (1157 High St, Harrisonburg)

Snapology: First Lego League Explore Team

FIRST® LEGO® League Explore inspires youth ages 6-10 to experiment and grow their critical thinking, coding, and design skills through fun hands-on STEM learning and LEGO® robotics. This year’s FLL theme challenge is “MASTERPIECES” and students will imagine and innovate new ways to create and communicate ART across the globe. Working in teams, we will explore coding and motorizing our models with LEGO® Spike robotic sets. All FLL programs are built on a foundation of Core Values, celebrating discovery, impact, inclusion, innovation, teamwork, and FUN. Students will have an opportunity to “show off” their team projects and learning on the last day of class and at a FLL Explore Festival at Explore More Museum on Sunday afternoon, April 28th. All the teams are celebrated and all students leave with an award. It's great fun! Fee includes 10 weeks of 1.5 hour classes, team and festival event registration fees, and team shirt. Youth Volleyball Clinic

Come out and learn the fundamentals of volleyball. This clinic is for girls and boys that are interested in learning the basics of volleyball. Clinic is five sessions and will be held indoors at Wilbur Pence Middle School. Each participant will receive a t-shirt.

Dino Days

Join us for Dino Days, where your little ones can explore the world of dinosaurs through sensory play and hands-on enrichment activities. This camp is designed for our younger children who are interested in dinosaurs and want to learn more about these prehistoric creatures. Sensory play will transport your child to the world of dinosaurs where they can uncover bones and fossils, look for dinosaur footprints, and explore a variety of textures and materials as they learn about the different types of dinosaurs and their habitats. Our Dino enthusiasts will also create crafts, sing songs, read books, and engage in a variety of hands-on activities.

Dino Detectives

Are you ready to dig up some DINO-mite fun with your paleontologist pals? Come prepared to dive into the prehistoric world through hands-on activities and STEM explorations as you excavate, explore, and expand your knowledge of these incredible reptiles that once roamed the Earth. Our budding paleontologists will uncover fossils, design dinosaur habitats, get messy, and learn all about the Dinosaur World.

Youth Coed Soccer

The Youth soccer program will be run in partnership with Virginia Skyline Soccer. During the 8 week long season, 60-minute-long practices being held twice a week with sessions on Monday/Wednesday (5yrs to 7yrs) & Tuesday/Thursday (8yrs to 12yrs). Weeks 1-2 will be practices only, allowing for skill assessments (players may be moved to different teams during that time). Games will start in week 3 (Saturday April 27th) and will be played on Saturday mornings. Registration may close early for age groups if maximum number of space available is reached. All Practices & Games will be held at Rockingham Park at the Crossroads.

Intro to Disc Golf

Disc Golf, sometime also referred to as frisbee golf, is one of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world. Participants will receive some instruction on the basics before taking a small beginner friendly course. All participants will receive three beginner appropriate discs to keep at the end of the session.

Snapology: Mega Machines Robotics

In this machinery-focused, intermediate-level robotics program, your engineer will explore the basics of robotics while constructing some pretty spectacular vehicles with their classmates! Utilizing the cutting-edge LEGO® Spike™ Prime robotic sets, participants will embark on a journey to create an impressive array of machines, including cranes, snowplows, forklifts, race cars, space rovers, and more! As they team up with a partner to tackle various challenges, students will gain hands-on experience in effectively employing sensors, comprehending the intricacies of mechanical components within their robots, and discovering the art of programming—a challenging yet immensely rewarding skill that awaits mastery with some practice. We will support students in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges. Your budding engineer will not only construct machines but build a foundation for a future filled with innovation and technological prowess! Snapology: Bot Builder Robotics

In this challenge-focused program, your student will begin to develop their computational thinking skills by playing with modular, robotic cubes known as Cubelets®! Imagine this, every way your student snaps the magnetic cubes together creates a unique robot, but what really matters is how they figure out the perfect robot recipe to solve a challenge. They will work in teams to figure out how to create lighthouses, racer bots, wheelie bots, goofy animals, and so much more! Class will be located at Manufactory Collective (1157 High St, Harrisonburg)
