Started in 2018 as a cooperative effort between RCFR and HFD, Camp LIT is a one week daytime camp held each summer to expose young women to the fire-rescue profession. Young women between the ages of 13 and 16 are invited to apply each Spring, and candidates are selected based on expressed interest and short answer questions. During the course of the week the campers are introduced to fire service history, personal protective equipment/gear, fire prevention, building construction, fire behavior, search & rescue, fire suppression methods, first aid & CPR, and more. Empowerment activities and physical fitness training also emphasized daily. There is no fee for this camp.
